HOW MUCH IS PRESERVING EXTRA DRY MATTER AND METABOLIC ENERGY WORTH TO YOU ?
Let’s take the averages above and base it on a 1,000 tonne clamp.
With Provance the average DM was 37.59 = 375,900 kg
Without additive the average DM was 30.58 = 305,800 kg.
What is this worth in milk?
If we multiply DM by metabolic energy:
Provance = 375,900 x 11.78 = 4,428.102
Untreated = 305,800 x 11.35 = 3,470,830
Now divide these two figures by 5.3 (as it takes 5.3 megajoules of energy to produce one litre of milk)
Provance = 4,428,102 /5.3 = 835,490 litres
Untreated = 3,470,830/5.3 = 654,873 litres
That’s a difference of 180,617 litres of milk.
