In 1999, after thirteen years of working in sales management for Dalgety and Bibby Feeds, Andrew Henderson founded Newline Cheshire.

 

            Andrew was dissatisfied with the mentality of large agricultural businesses and felt uncomfortable with their dictatorship over the feed industry. The ‘least cost’ and ‘off-the-shelf’ products had led to companies manufacturing feeds for their own interest rather than for the health of the cows and profitability of the farmer.

 

Newline Cheshire found its feet quickly with farmers appreciating not only the ability to choose what went into their feeds, but the full nutritional support that Newline provided. With bespoke rations, customers saw their efficiency and performance grow rapidly, cementing the credibility of the business. 

 

After two years, Newline Cheshire changed its name after frequently being mistaken for another company. 

 

Thus, we became Independent Feeds.

 

For the past 20 years, our promise has remained the same: To provide bespoke, top quality feeds at competitive prices to maximise the health and performance of our customers’ dairy herds. 

 

We are very proud of the relationship we have with our main supplier, Lloyds Animal Feeds, who have manufactured the majority of our bespoke compound feeds & blends since our business was founded two decades ago and who have never compromised on quality.

 

Over the years, we have expanded our team and expertise to focus in more detail on a wider range of services - such as forage management – our aim being to improve our customer’s profitability through maximising the feed that they produce themselves. With the economic difficulties that the industry has faced and it is still facing, it has become crucial for dairy farmers to look at increasing efficiency throughout the farming process. To enable them to do this, we are continually developing strong ties with pioneering companies from all over the world to bring our clients the products which at the forefront of the market.

 

The future of this industry is unpredictable, therefore we must maintain the highest quality farming standards in order to put us in the best position for whatever lies ahead.
